Basic minutes

The process of setting these learning events:
  • Get rid of TWG’s and focus on learning events to reflect on specific themes e.g. gender etc. new topics. We could have a field visit as a learning event…
  • Still a question: integration of these learning events with the National Platform
  • But we want to have a brief about the challenges, tools, recommendations etc. discussed during the learning event
  • 2 already: one formally named as a learning event (N3) and one informally as another one (N4 modeling symposium)
  • We promote a learning event under the auspices of the TWG on Institutional Innovation – by email we contact them to think about what they would be interested
  • At the next NP meeting, we explain what could happen with the TW groups and report back from the learning events (Tech innovation, Instit innovation).
  • Does NBDC have the capacity to chase these TW groups or not? No. So we shouldn’t prioritize working on these TWGs but at the same time not kill them. We have to also address this as part of the sustainability discussion about the platforms we’ve set up in the NBDC.
The learning event:
  • Half-day workshop? Perhaps a one-day meeting? Planning rainwater management interventions: as simple as a game?
  • Objectives:
    • o Test Wat-A-Game? Collect participants’ feedback: challenges, what’s different about this, support/resources needed to include this in their work? Finding out potential applications of their current work?
    • o Reflect more broadly about assessment tools to discuss broader issues of participation, decision-making, planning, implementation and monitoring of RWM practices.
  • ZL/BC Draw up a budget for 15-20 people
  • ZL/BC Get someone to document, take pix, videos and help edit the brief
  • ZL/BC Involve Aberra for logistical support?
  • ZL/BC to develop meeting objectives, rough list of participants, date, venue and rough program
  • Use the event as a way to validate the findings of our work and particularly of using Wat-A-game.
  • Possible participants: Kees to look at interested participants from last NP meeting.
